Fabulous Redrocks Vacation Villa

About the Villa

Backyard with putting green
Highway view between VOC Sedona

Exceed your expectations in our home in the beautiful and real community of the Village of Oak Creek between 1-17 and uptown Sedona.

We are located in a very quiet & natural area away from the often crowded and hectic streets of Sedona itself. However, the Village is an easy and breathtaking 10-minute (7.3 mile) drive to Sedona itself when you want to visit Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village or Uptown Sedona.

The Village of Oak Creek is 20 minutes closer to I-17, Phoenix and Flagstaff than the motels along the 2 mile stretch of State Route 179 in West Sedona. That stretch in West Sedona it is a busy highway with strip malls on both sides west from Whole Foods Market. Sedona has become quite challenged by large traffic volumes at certain hours.

The Village does not have these traffic problems. However, it has all the amenities one would want such as a full gourmet grocery store, plenty of restaurants and art galleries as well as all the golf courses and great nature.

We have a most amazing and fun bar called the Shadow Rock Tap + Table. There your group can sit outside around small campfires and enjoy conversing and playing games such as Ping Pong, cornhole, shuffleboard, darts & foosball. This is particularly great when the kids come to visit.

We in the village are a short drive to:

  • Great hiking,
  • The beautiful and fun Oak Creek itself,
  • All three of Sedona’s public golf courses (none are in Sedona proper),
  • Plenty of restaurants, pubs and shops.

We are a quick walk to:

  • Courts for pickleball and tennis,
  • A children’s playground & picnic area,
  • A lush green park where dog owners socialize with their dogs daily at 4 pm and
  • Golf restaurant at Oakcreek Country Club.

OUR HOUSE:

Our house is a fully modernized 1,964 square foot three bedroom & 2-bathroom home.

It is on a large private lot with a full view of the red rock mountains.

It is tastefully decorated & fully furnished with near new and comfortable beds and a very well-equipped kitchen

It has a private hot tub right outside the master bedroom.

It has a large second living room / recreation room with a ping pong table (which one can fold up), lots of books and games and a small office area with a printer. This room is invaluable to create or enhance one’s privacy if one entertains out of town guests for more than 2 or 3 days.

We have wonderful and large front & back gardens with lots of cacti, shrubs, trees and fresh herbs. Your pet is welcome, on approval. The backyard is fully enclosed for them.

Our hot tub is perfect in the mornings with your coffee or after a hike, golf, pickleball or tennis.  You can enjoy star gazing from the hot tub in the evening or great bird watching in the morning.  We provide plastic glasses for use in the hot tub.

You will all have fun on our backyard putting green and chipping area and you can also use the chipping area as a court for bean bag toss & bocce. While playing you can enjoy our bar on our outside deck and stay “well hydrated”.

Hiking nearby

These are a few of our favourite hikes in Coconino National Forest near the Village of Oak Creek. All of them are far less busy than the hikes near Uptown and West Sedona but they are equally as spectacular.

  • You will need a parking pass for the national forest parking lots. Buy one at a gas station in the Village of Oak Creek.
  • The small Big Park Loop is very crowded since it is very easy and scenic. It is great for the elderly and infirm.
  • This is just a small sample of the hikes near the Village of Oak Creek.
  • See Alltrails or Komoot or the trail books at our house for more details on these and other hikes.

    • Dogs on leashes are permitted.
    • One can enter the trail without having to park in one of the crowded national forest parking lots. Park on the street outside the Red Agave Resort, 0.3 miles west and north of Ace Hardware in the Village.

    • The road ends at Red Rock Crossing at Oak Creek and the parking lot is about 200 yards back from here.
    • An easy route is to walk along the road to the creek and walk up it on the Baldwin Trail to the awesome pools. This merges with the Templeton Trail.
    • Follow along Oak Creek until you arrive at switchbacks at the base of Cathedral Rock.
    • This is where either you can turn back or the work begins. You will be rewarded by great views.
    • You could spend an hour or 3 hours on this trail including an hour or so lounging by or swimming in the creek. Just turn back when you want to.
    • There are many pools along the creek where you could stop for a while.
    • Take your shoes off and cross the creek. Then walk on the trails of Crescent Moon Picnic site. It is former ranch. It is very scenic.

Mountain Bike Trails & cycling on quiet & scenic roads.

  • Mountain biking is very popular around the Village of Oak Creek, mainly among the younger set since it is somewhat risky although there are a few easy ones.
  • One can rent mountain bikes in the village at Absolute Bikes.
  • They also sell bike trail maps and do a group ride every Sunday.
  • They recommend the Rabbit Ears trail as an intermediate trail and The Hogs as an expert trail.
  • We have two bicycles, locks and helmets. Our tenants can use them for riding on the quiet back streets of the Village of Oak Creek. We very much enjoy these bike rides and we get a great workout.

Kayaking on the Verde River

We have enjoyed inflatable kayaking with Verde Adventures. One can do a self guided trip that is quite inexpensive or one can do a group tour. Some kayaking trips include visits to Alcantara winery beside the river for both food and wine. We recommend all these trips. One can even take a child as young as 3 years old along. Ask them when there is the optimal water flow in the river. Spring run-off can be huge.

  • The art shops there are definitely world class and there are a few nice restaurants.
  • It is a lot of fun to just wander around it. It feels like a village in Europe even though it is named after a town in Mexico near Guadalajara.

Perfect Location, Amazing Views
The location was wonderful, a very quiet nice neighborhood 2 blocks from a neighborhood park and golf course. It is the perfect location away from the tourist areas of Sedona, but still having restaurants, groceries and gas stations close by. Several nice hikes in the area without having to venture in to Sedona. The views were outstanding, we enjoyed seeing the red rocks every day.

We had an exceptional month-long stay at Linda and Chris’s place. Great communication throughout. Wonderful back yard with putting green, bocce court, hot tub, and an amazing view. Couldn’t ask for more. The location was fantastic and close to tons of hiking. We worked part time during our stay and the internet was very fast. Linda and Chris were very welcoming and great communicators. We will be back!
